Coaching / Mentoring

A facilitator takes the position of confidante and adviser. If you work with me, you will have someone you can speak to on your level, who you may be explicit with, and who you can say whatever you wish to in complete confidence, without it impacting any existing relationships you have to sustain. I operate from a viewpoint outside your current known environment, within which you can bounce ideas and thoughts without fear of judgement or impact on your current situations unless you choose to act on our discussions.  You almost certainly have no-one you can currently do that with.

I will consider what you say and feed back information, options, provocation if necessary, so you can generate a decision, or consider that which you weren't already aware of, to illuminate the position you hold.  What you choose to do with that information is for you to decide, but it will be of significance and value to you in making that decision, and I will be there on an ongoing basis if necessary to continue to facilitate any actions you take, or to give further advice and stimulus if necessary.

Often within a business context, you may wish or need to be challenged.  You may need someone without the constraints of knowing your environment to challenge your thoughts and ideas and assist you in “thinking outside the box”.  Whilst it’s relatively easy to find someone with an opinion on just about any subject you might pick, it’s hard to find someone without one.  Someone who will reflect back what you say and the logical consequences.  Who will offer different viewpoints and information and ways of giving consideration, without trying to influence you or offer an opinion.

Individual facilitation/coaching can and often is built in after a training course for a fixed fee for a period of three months to support ongoing changes and actions you may wish to consider or take following your learning.  This “coaching package” is usually advertised with the course, but can be accommodated on request after any training programme.

The practicalities

I am unusual in that I prefer longer and more intensive single one-to-one sessions addressing specific areas of concern or attention (from 2+ hrs) than an ongoing therapeutic relationship spread over a long term. I also often work with clients over a number of sessions to build competencies in multiple life areas or in addressing multiple areas of concern or attention. This approach however remains within the structure of contained intensive single sessions that are then linked through time to build on existing skills that have been developed previously.

This approach is ideal for professional or business clients who have particular situations they want to resolve or where an issue prevents them from getting on with their lives and producing the results they desire. I can also work with an individual client seeking an intensive learning and developmental experience as a professional coach, providing personalised training and advice related to 'real time' situations on a monthly retainer-type arrangement.

Where?

I can and will travel to see clients wherever necessary. I already work in the US, Hong Kong, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Denmark. There may be some charge for long-distance travel and/or accommodation if necessary, which would be agreed up-front, although I can schedule sessions around my presence in your location wherever possible.

How much?

A typical programme of sessions will depend on what exactly you wish to work on and in what context. Expect when you contact me by email or phone that we can and will discuss terms. I will ask for a credit card or cheque payment in advance as confirmation of your commitment.
